Common Core Writing Enrichment

Common Core Writing Enrichment- 8 Weeks

In this story telling class, students will learn how to properly write and organize stories. Elements of storytelling will be discussed such as character and plot development, setting placement, conflict production, and resolution. Concurrent story prompts will be introduced each week so that students will be able to complete each simultaneous chapter which will be collected at the end of the quarter and be connected together to form a short story based on the topic of the teacher's choosing. For example, the initial story idea was based on Disney's Peter Pan. Mechanical aspects of their writing will also be evaluated such as grammar, sentence structure, numerical writing, along with paragraph transitioning. By this form of grading, students will increase in their ability to write more effectively and efficiently which will be able to harness this newly learned skills and apply them to their actual schooling.
