COMMON CORE WRITING ENRICHMENT PROGRAM - 8 Weeks
In this class, students will be expected to write a short story based on the teacher's chosen prompt of each class. These stories will be created with having the students practice story-telling elements such as character development, plot, setting, conflict, and resolution. They will learn to excel in imagining and thinking creatively when developing their story writing process. The story that they create will be graded on their abilities to properly execute these elements within each class's story. Mechanical aspects of their writing will also be evaluated such as grammar, sentence structure, numerical writing, along with paragraph transitioning. By this form of grading, students will increase in their ability to write more effectively and efficiently which will be able to harness these newly learned skills and apply them to their actual schooling to meet the Common Core Standard.
